Computer is a machine , like all machine it contains Input - Process - Output cycle. The special thing is it's process part is computation .
How computer works ?
Actually we can divide computers into two groups :-
1. Analog
2. Digital
Analog computers deals mainly with continuous function whose all derivatives exist . It takes addition , scaled multiplication , taking power , root and differentiation and integration to compute or form different functions from one function . We can use mechanical or electrical / electronics system to do such tusk .
Similarly Digital computers are dealing with digital or Quantized data . Since natural phenomenons are broadly continuous or in micro-scale discrete but fuzzy so we can approximately think that continuous functions are ruling the Universe . However the continuous think is approximated in peak and valley such way that it seems like somewhere it is high and somewhere low . That actually gives us a countable peak and valley sequence [While continuous function is Real that means consist of uncountable points ] .
Now while we once deduce it in countable zone so our task become easier . We can solve different discrete problems with it .
Today we are mainly dealing with discrete computers only . But any machine can loosely be told as computer as they map from one pattern/set to another specifically like a function in execution i.e Computation .
